Gather all your documents

Ongoing

Locate any/all documents sent by NYDOCCS after the events of February 17th to the current. 

  1. Termination/Resignation Letter
  2. Termination of Benefits Letter
  3. Any Robo voice mail messages left for you
  4. Any Robo text messages sent to you
  5. FOIL any/all phone calls you made or took from your facility from Feb 16th through March 11th. See quick links for FOIL info especially if you requested sick time, FMLA, or to ensure your paperwork was UTD.
  6. Add copies of all items to a zip file that can emailed.

File your Grievance with NYSCOPBA

File for Unemployment

min 14 days after separation date

You are eligible for unemployment benefits: Find the Quick link below. Use strike as reason.


Call your local officials after filing. They have been helping to expedite people's applications

Not sure if this fits you? Applicants, employees and former employees are protected from employment discrimination based on:

If you were on Paid Family Leave (AFS), file a PFL DC-119

 Under New York State Law, Paid Family provides protections to workers including:

  • job protection,
  • continued health insurance, and,
  • protection from discrimination or retaliation.

If you are concerned about safety within the facilities, file with PESH

ASAP

PESH is the equal to OSHA for public employees. Stick to the facts, identify locations, policies, procedures, equipment that is not safe for all people within the facilities. Section below.

FMLA: One or the Other - File a complaint OR hire an attorney.

Better if done ASAP. 2 years to file complaint.

IMPORTANT: If you were out on FMLA or had requested FMLA, download and include the DIRECT ORDER MEMO BELOW from Ayotte to Superintendents when you file with your complaint OR choose to be represented by a lawyer.
