Contact Your Representatives

Your voice can create change.

Every call, email, and conversation with a local or state representative helps bring awareness to the serious challenges facing New York’s Correctional Officers — from chemical exposures and assaults to burnout, understaffing, and lack of leadership accountability.

Why It Matters

Correctional Officers protect New York every day, but their voices are often left out of policy decisions. By reaching out to lawmakers, you help:

  • Push for stronger safety standards and funding for protective gear, health monitoring, and training.
  • Hold DOCCS leadership accountable for unsafe or unethical practices.
  • Support legislative reform that prioritizes officer wellness, fair labor rights, and adequate staffing.
  • Shine a light on the emotional and physical toll this profession takes — including PTSD, moral injury, and family strain.

When representatives hear directly from the people living these realities, change becomes possible.

How You Can Help

  •  Find your representatives: See the Quick Links below
  • Reach out directly: Share your experience or concern respectfully and clearly.
  • Ask for action: Request investigations, hearings, or support for legislation that protects officers.
  • Follow up: Keep the conversation going — persistence builds pressure and result

Together, We Amplify Our Voice

Every message to a legislator is a step toward safer prisons, stronger support, and the respect Correctional Officers deserve.

Stand with us. Speak up. Protect those who protect New York.
